This Aion guide we’ll be focusing on some good strategies for kiting.

The first thing you need to do if you want to solo Elites effectively is to learn how to keep them at a distance, and at the same time not lose too much momentum. To accomplish this, you can use your DOTs to maintain aggro at all times, and CCs to slow the mob down and keep it at a perfect distance.

Here’s a trick for you that I learned about recently. If you go to the options menu, there should be a box under Combat info called “Show distance to target”. Click it and press the Apply button to turn it on. This will make it a lot easier for you to kite, by not having to keep the mob in your sight all the time while you move around, yet not risking getting too far away so your spells become ineffective.

Another important aspect to good kiting is to find a wide open area without too many mobs in it. This will allow you to move around more freely and not have to worry about drawing aggro from more than one monster at a time. This is crucial when dealing with Elite mobs, especially for a Sorcerer because of your unavoidably low defensive stats.

In some areas, like the Tursin Garrison, there will be so called patrol mobs that alert the other monsters to your presence. You’ll want to avoid these at all costs, or you might find that you’ve got an entire camp on your tail.

Next is how to use your skills the best. Whenever your damage type spells are on cooldown, make sure to use your Crowd Control to stop the mob in its tracks and allow yourself some recovery time. This goes both for the cooldown as well as using Absorb Energy, Healing potions and Mana potions to stay fit for fight throughout. Never let your health or mana dwindle too low, or you could end up in some tricky situations that could’ve otherwise been easily avoided.

Examples of CC spells would be Sleep, Ice chain, or Curse of Roots.
